FAQs

What products does Isla Santa offer?

We produce all natural skin care products, made locally in Central Florida. Our products are an alternative to mainstream products. We don't add any synthetic components to achieve specific consistencies or to create an eternal shelf life. We choose ingredients solely on their benefits to create clean personal care products that are nourishing and safe.

What is natural body butter good for?

It helps to nourish, moisturize and heal the skin. We use butters and oils that are easily absorbed by the skin and won't clog your pores. Natural body butter is great for daily use since it is free of harsh chemicals. It can also help relief eczema, psoriasis, acne, sunburns, itchiness, diaper rash, dry skin, and other skin conditions.

But wait, this means that your products can expire?

Yes, they are completely natural and will expire. We use high quality butters and oils with a shelf life of 1-3 years and we do everything on small batches to ensure a fresh inventory. That being said, our products are designed for daily use and should last between 3-6 months when used as recommended. Remember, your skin needs nourishment just like the rest of your body. We encourage you to make skincare part of your personal daily routine!

My body butter melted, is it still safe to use?

Yes, Shea butter has a melting point of 89F. This doesn't affect the quality of the ingredients, but the body butter will lose its "whipped" consistency. Rest assure, you can still use it daily and enjoy its benefits. Natural ingredients react to heat and cold. A melted body butter in a hot summer day proves our products are 100% natural and no additives have been added!

Can my product make contact with water?

We don't recommend that. Our body butters have no preservatives and can become rancid if you add water into them. Feel free to apply your body butter after showering when your skin is slightly damp. This will allow the body butter to lock-in the water and provide extra hydration to your skin.

*Our body scrubs have a small amount of Optiphen, a natural preservative. This is added to maintain its freshness since it is used during showering and will most likely get in contact with water. This is okay, just make sure to limit the amount of water exposure and use the product within 3 months.

Ok, so what are the benefits of using these natural products?

Our products are packed with butters and oils with anti-inflammatory, antioxidants, and anti-fungal properties. They help soothe, moisturize and renew the skin naturally. Please refer to the "INGREDIENTS" section to learn more about the amazing properties of everything we use.

How do I know if my current cream/lotion/body butter is all natural?

Read the label. There are many products out there advertising as "natural", but once you read the list of ingredients you will be able to figure out if they are 100% natural or simply contain natural ingredients along with synthetic components.

What about hyperpigmentation/ Melasma?

Shea butter and Coconut oil (the main ingredients in our body butters) are packed with antioxidants which help reduce inflammation and moisturize the skin. This improves elasticity and can help with hyperpigmentation. That being said, these are natural products and won’t act the same way medications do. You might see changes over time, but the true benefit of the products is to have a nourished skin.

If you have hyperpigmentation on the face, check out our Daily Face Food. It has a generous amount of Aloe Vera Gel which is known as a natural remedy for Melasma. It also contains Organic Calendula oil which has amazing healing properties for the skin (we make our Calendula oil in house!). We use only natural ingredients so you don’t have to worry about putting harsh chemicals on your already sensitive skin. Again, our products do not cure Melasma, but you can see improvement over time by using natural skin care with healing and moisturizing properties.

Can Shea butter help with stretch marks and/or scars?

Shea butter can help by moisturizing the skin and promoting collagen production. Collagen is a protein that helps to give skin its strength and elasticity. By moisturizing the skin, shea butter can help to reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks by making them less noticeable. Additionally, the collagen-boosting properties of shea butter can help to improve the appearance of scars by making them less raised and indented.

However, it is important to note that shea butter is not a miracle cure. It will not completely remove scars or stretch marks, but it can help to reduce their appearance. If you are looking for ways to reduce the appearance of scars/stretch marks, shea butter is a natural and safe option that is worth trying. For stretch marks and scars, we recommend our Restorative Body Butter which includes a blend of nourishing oils acting as a deep skin moisturizer.
